Automation means real human freedom. If we want to go that far. Going that far means giving up past contrivances. The main one being income-generating jobs.
Nearly all the respondents saw a future where there are so few jobs, competing enterprises and viable capitalist markets, consumerism dwindles as no one can buy anything. Productivity costs due to automation drop precipitously and, with automation destroying wage-earning opportunities, capitalism collapses into some future systemic state.
What does it mean when over 90 percent of workers in one of the largest economies are “disengaged” at work? In the US alone, 70 percent of workers are “disengaged”. What does that mean for our global economic system?
